Enlistment Fever 1914

The blogs that appear on this site tell the story of some of the over seven million British servicemen of the Great War (1914-1918). Ordinary men, by and large, but a few more widely known; soldiers, sailors and airmen whose stories have never before been told or have been told incorrectly. Volunteers and conscripts mostly, a few serving regulars when the war began and at least one who was a conscientious objector. They all played a small part in making history and many made the ultimate sacrifice for the privelage of doing so. This site is dedicated to their memory. De mortuis nil nisi bonum, or if you prefer ‘of the dead speak no evil’, but let the truth finally prevail. If you want to discover what one of your ancestors did in the Great War check out http://www.military-ancestor-researchers.com and discover your ancestor’s untold story.
